Our Snow Day Wednesday

OK, I know, this is a few days late. But we had a VERY busy and crazy Wednsday this week. It started out that we were to get snow at midnight. I woke up at 3 am, and not even flurries. Went to the bathroom, got a snack together, (both things woke me up), and in that 20 minutes it started snowing. Go to bed, the alarm wakes us up. We get up, get Zoe up, we tell her she can watch noggin, wellll that backfired when I wanted to watch the school closings. So I had to look them up online. Then the 1 local station who this is the 2nd time by 7am does not have our district listed as closed, so I check another station, we are closed. I almost would have had her set to go to school the 1st time I almost solely relied on this station. But I had errands so something told me to double check. OK, so we have to convince Zoe that even though we are stopping into Wal-Mart it is OK to wear her jammies (it was a MILLION times easier to just have her slip pants and boots on!) so we drop Matt off to work on time. He needed something for pot-luck-lunch, a girl at work was bringing in Pulled Pork, and he forgot to make his cake balls. So he decided that beans would be a good idea, at first he wanted me to bring back the beans warmed for lunch in the crock-pot, but then he figured it was best to bring the crock, and have me drop off the beans (smart thinking for once). So Zoe and I head to Wal-Mart. We needed to get a #10 can of baked beans. THEY DIDN'T HAVE THEM!! So I call Matt, the cell drops the call, he calls me back. He tells me the 3.5 lbs cans are fine, grab 3. Get 3-8 Roll packs of Hot Dog Rolls. And I needed tissues for home. I got the beans, the rolls, and find that they have 24 packs of cookies for 3.33, not a bad steal, so I get 2 different kinds of cookies. We go to check out Zoe sees the bathroom, of course she has to go (she usually does right upon waking she just didn't go before leaving home). So we go do our thing, and when we were washing our hands, I remember that I forgot tissues. We go get some, and Zoe thinks I should get the pink box because it is pink, it has less tissues, and costs the same as the box with more tissues, and actually semi-matches the decour in my Living Room. (BY THE WAY DURING A SNOW STORM IS THE BEST TIME TO SHOP!! THE STORE IS EMPTY!!) Then we check out, and head over to the in-house Dounkin Dounuts, as Matt didn't have time to eat breakfast, and neither did we. I get his meal, me a coffee, and her a milk and muffin (THEY REALLY NEED TO MAKE THAT A MEAL OPTION!!) LOL!! We get out to the car, get settled, and head out. There at the stop sign on the road out, is a BIG tractor trailor who had to stop on the hill there, and I HAD to wait for his complete stop, and probably with that weather the way it was, I would not have minded if he kept on going if he signaled it to me in some fashion. As to me he didn't look like he could stop on a dime that day. He did though, and we were on our way, at the edge of the plaza the gas light turned on, and so we ran the beans to Matt, and he was happy that we got him dounuts, as opposed to bagels, I don't know why, he has never asked me for bagels, he does eat them, and we LOVE the Thomas' square ones for egg sandwiches, but he has never asked for a bagel for breakfast from Dunkin Dounuts. And he was wondering why there was so much in the bags, and found the cookies and was happy that we had brought them for him to share. So we are off to home to wait for our ENT appt. We get home and an hour later, the ENT calls, and asks if we want an ealrier appt. of course I do! And in the meantime I needed a script filled, and my doc's office calls back that they don't have my PAP on file. I KNEW I did it!! I found my datebook grabbed it, and forgot to grab my TB Test Paperwork for them to sign. We head out to Schenectady to the ENT. But I had to grab $1 form the bank (I KNOW!) for the tolls, I figured the crazys on the Interstate were going to be just as bad as the crazys on the regular roads. So on our way in the snow. It takes us and hour to get there, we were late for the appt. but I dont think that they cared much, there was only one other patient in the office. We were seen pretty quickly, and he said there was a little fluid in her ear. And they don't put tubes in the ear unless they have back to back infections. Hers are only like that 1-3 times a year so I decided agianst that option at this time. BUT I was armed with the knowledge that earlier in the AM Zoe said "My Ear Hurts" which the night before I started feeling a cold coming on, and I knew to watch for her cold. That AM she had cold signs. So I mad the executive descision of that the Pediatrition was right next door to this guy. So I head over, and they are closed for lunch, it was only 20 minutes more, so I figure what the heck, lets see if this building hooks up to the hospital. I couldn't find a way, so we went back and waited and played games, and of course Zoe said "Hi" to everyone walking by! The office staff and ped. show up, and get us in in a few minutes. I tell them, I would rather be armed with the scripts for in the AM, then to not have stopped in, and have her miss school, and be in any unnecessary pain over this, and to not waste the gas, and having to wake up early to head out here. They look, and it was more than a little fluid in the ear, it was an infection. So we get the scripts, and head out. We then go to McDonalds. I didn't have the chance to eat breakfast, only drink a coffee, so I get the $4 bigmac meal and Zoe got a small fry as she had left-over milk, and I packed her a lunch. So that is the cheapest I got out of McD's for the 2 of us! I also figured that the McD's in the Interstate would milk me for all I was worth, and not have the $4 deal. We head home, becuase I needed my TB Test Paperwork. Grab that go to my Doc, and then tell them the date I had my PAP on, and apparently I have 2 accounts, and they have to merge my 2 accounts, and then I will be all good. So the doc left ealry, and she is the one to fill out the physical portion of my Paperwork requirement. They wanted me to come back to have it filled out. I am thinking to myself, even with gas at 1.87ish a gal right now, it will cost me more in gas than its worth for them to just mail it to me for .42isg cents!! Then I go to Wal-Mart (YES!! AGIAN!!) for our meds to be filled. We walk around, and I know there is stuff I should be looking for, but I can't remember what, all I remember is the wrapping paper tub's. They were $9 each, not bad but I am not going to grab one now. We head back to the pharmacy. They could not refill 1 script it was 6 months to the day it was prescribed, so they would not cover it. But the others could all be filled. And we also didn't owe anything. Which I am extremely grateful for. We head out to get Matt from work, and then we head home. So on a day that I was only to be on the road and out not-so-much, I was only home for like an hour that day! Until the evening!! It was crazy, but also I didn't have to make a secondary trip to the Ped's office the next day!

The Allergist

So, we had a visit with the allergist yesterday. Even though the ONLY things that could have helpes a little better for Zoe: a few books, and a coloring book and crayons, had been forgotten at home, I did have a snack, and some of her favorite little toys that even if she does not have a house to play with at home, she uses her imagination. Fast Forward to the Allergist's office: NO IMAGINATION!! Just tried to push every button on mommy that was possible!! So I had to fill out paperwork, and she was just running around the waiting room, then I couldn't remember the exact name of the (I think dermatitus) on her face that she gets, and gets a facial reaction when she eats things, and THIS is the MAIN reason we were there! FORGOT THE NAME AND DIDN'T WITE IT DOWN!! So completely forgot this because she wasn't listening to me. Then I didn't get to finish the paperwork, amongst that the receptionist took the insurance cards, and forgot to hand them back to me. Then we were called into the office, and Zoe can't sit still obviously for the 10 minutes that he wants to consult for. So after that, we go to the waiting room, and then they call us into the exam room. The nurse TRIES to check her blood pressure, and they dont have a cuf small enough, so I am SURE she guessed with what she had with 1 check of her blood pressure. Then they ask that I take her shirt off. Then I do that, he comes back in, Zoe has no background with this guy, and she doesn't like him poking and prodding her, but he tries to look for the former perforation spot in her ear, still tries to tell me that it most likely wasn't a perforation, says that her tonsils are a little big, but not so big that we should worry about them having to be removed unless the ENT says to next week. Other than that he won't remove them (over my dead body would I even ASK this guy to actually perform surgery on her.) Any how, he checked her heart too. So got that all done, and we go out to the waiting room, and he calls us into the office. He talks on, (he is of India-Indian descent, so it is hard to understand him in the first place) and then hands me some info and directions to follow along with the script for her blood-draw. He also BARELY talked about indoor/outdoor allergies, and didn't even test for any of these specific allergens, for in/outdoors, just the wheat/soy family, and another family of allergens, and the mangoe's and pumpkin specifically. As this is what she has had a problem with in the past. Then the nurse gives me more info, and schedules the follow-up for in a month, and hands me MORE information. So then I look at the sheet to the blood draw places, and see there is one near Matt's work. I head to my mom's quick to see were the blood place, and his work are in relation, as Matt said don't come get me until I call. It is really close by, and near the time he gets out, so I head over to the blood-draw place. Then I discover that I don't have her insurance cards! I call the office, they have them there, I could pick them up, well I am halfway to the blood draw, and could they mail them? No, they want to make sure I directly get them. OK. Get to the blood draw place, I need the Insurance Cards. Great! They offer to call, and have them fax the copy, OK, so then 10-15 minutes pass, NO FAX! Then we decide to call them agian. They say they sent it, and to the number I gave them. Well I never got it. So they sent it agian, it goes through. Yay! Then in a few minutes we get called in for the draw. I get Zoe settled, and because it was so crazy already, when the lady touched her, and her wrists turned a small pink, and I noticed it, but it didn't alarm off to me. Plus we had been in the office for at least 45 minutes already. Then she cries through the whole blood draw, and then we leave to get Matt becuase he had already called. Even though I told him EXACTLY where we were, he thought we were in Troy, and he got a ride home from someone. OK, so we head home too. Then there is an accident right at the border of town, so we were stuck in traffic for 10-20 minutes. It was a car who had a crashed in front-end, and the Firefighters were there directing traffic around, etc. We get home, and Matt is here, and get our things off, and I noticed Zoe's wrists were more pink, and dried up-in the pink area. So I wait a bit more, and there isn't much change. So I call the pediatrition, and they say give Benadryl for the allergy, and check with the draw place that they use Latex gloves, and Tylenol for the pain from the draw. OK. Did all that, she wakes up in the AM and her cheeks are slightly pink, along with her wrists. Give her more Benadryl, and call the Lab. Yes, they use Latex, unless you ask them not to, and with her symptoms, always ask for non-latex in the future, and she kind-of acted like, how didn't I know this before? And Zoe has not had that much exposure to latex, if at all because the doc's don't use them, and who know's about the hosptial, and the dentist uses both. SO! Now she is allergic to Latex! I sit down to read through all of this material. I ended up with at least 2 each of the Arthritus, and Diabetes Magizines (just the general kind in the doctor's office) and 2 of these catalogs with EXPENSIVE HEPA/Good for people with allergies things. Which I would like to hope that I can get them in the Dept. store, but not for the price in this catalog. There was another pamphlet with some cheaper items in it too. Also some brochures on if you love your child, you will get him this thing or that, obviously if your child is seriously inhibited by indoor allergies, I believe that would be best, but otherwise, do the best you can. So there was also a TON of nfo about indoor/outdoor allergies, and then I was really confused. Part of it was that I probably could not understand him well, Zoe was interrupting ALOT, and that he seemed to focus on the perforated eardrum, and cold remidies, and stopping a cold before she got it into an ear infection, and her mango/pumpkin allergy. ARGH! So I called everyone and alerted them to the Latex allergy, and then also asked that our Ped. call me back, as I am awfully confused, and should I take this info from the allergist about giving her cld meds at the first sign of a cold, and all of this other stuff the allergist gave me. So I will update later!

Hello there! Its 2009!

Well since I started a Twitter account, I figured that I better get this thing really going, especially since I also have a NEW! digital camera!! YAY!! With Picassa on the computer. So alot of new and old technology to learn! So I will take it slow here. I wish there was something to do it all at once on, like Tweet and Blog. And a semi-uniform way to enter into give-a-ways on the web... At least I am greatful that it is quicker than from the manufacturer, etc.! Well I am trying to get a kid to finish some more rice here, and have to get ready for bed for the night. So have a good night all!
